Supreme Accessories get a Luxe Louis Vuitton Update for Latest Collection
It’s been a few weeks since the Louis Vuitton Mens Fall Winter 2017-2018 show in Paris. However, the buzz is as loud as ever. What is everyone obsessing over? Supreme accessories, of course. Say hello to the biggest fashion collaboration “or shall we say drop” of the year, Louis Vuitton x Supreme. If you’re new to the world of Supreme and the all out pandemonium it entails, you can read more about it here. If you’re already a fan then this news is better than your birthday, cupcakes, and even pizza. Just ask any of Supreme’s almost 2 million loyal Facebook fans or 43,000 Reddit members how they feel about Supreme accessories and apparel. However, they probably won’t be to thrilled that you know about it. To really understand what all the hype is about let’s take a step back and review the long road to the Louis Vuitton x Supreme drop.
Past Supreme x Louis Vuitton Controversy
Serious Supreme fans are likely a little shocked considering the rocky past between the two brands. Back in 2000, Supreme borrowed the LV logo releasing a series of LV monogrammed skate decks, tees, and Supreme accessories. However, the French luxury retailer wasn’t a fan and immediately issued a cease & desist letter. Supreme’s James Jebbia responded quickly, and without altercation. The unofficial Louis Vuitton accessories were immediately pulled. Soon after a short message appeared on supremenewyork.com, “Recalled after two weeks due to lawsuit.”
Louis Vuitton x Supreme at Paris Fashion Week Mens
Now, after almost two decades of awkward radio silence we learn that Supreme and Louis Vuitton not only made amends, but there’s an actual LV x Supreme drop happening. Louis Vuitton Mens artistic director Kim Jones reveals that Louis Vuitton was actually first to initiate conversation.“It was Michael Burke, the CEO of Louis Vuitton, called me up one day and said, ‘Do you know the people at Supreme because I’m really interested in the brand and I’d like to talk to the founder,’ who’s James Jebbia, who I know. So I said you can get his number off me if we can do a collaboration with them! And we sort of started there. Michael was very into it and very supportive.”
Even more surprising, the partnership proves to be more collaborative than we ever imagined. We expected to see a streetwear focused lineup of Supreme accessories covered in the classic monogrammed Louis Vuitton logo. Much like the prior ill-fated Supreme Louis Vuitton drop of 2000. However, what we saw instead, was a runway full of streetwear inspired Louis Vuitton x Supreme accessories that felt cohesive and natural. Not at all like the usual mashup collaborations we see on the high fashion runway.
You be the judge. Did they get these accessories right or did Supreme sell out? Keep scrolling below to see our favorite looks from the LV x Supreme collection on the runway.
Louis Vuitton x Supreme Accessories
Recently, we got a closer look at the full Louis Vuitton x Supreme collection and it’s even more diverse than we realized. The full LV x Supreme accessories and apparel lineup includes shirts, baseball jerseys, bags, shoes and even a skate deck that comes along with a Louis Vuitton trunk and accompanying Supreme x Louis Vuitton box logo tee. We’ve never quite seen accessories from Supreme like this before. Likewise, this is the first time that Louis Vuitton delivers consistent, authentic streetwear for men.
Now back to these new accessories. If you appreciate a good man bag, you have your option of a few. The collection offers LV x Supreme bags of all shapes and sizes. The assortment spans from large gym bags with the box logo to monogrammed Supreme x LV trunks and even fanny packs. There’s also plenty of smaller LV x Supreme accessories as well. Take for example, the Supreme x LV trunk inspired phone cases, keychains, sunglasses and scarves.
Louis Vuitton x Supreme Shoes
For the LV x Supreme footwear offering the duo keep things fairly simple opting for classic leather, athletic sneakers, loafers and slides. The color palette definitely owes its influence to Supreme. So far we’ve only seen color-ways of red, black, and white including an all-white shoe with red LV logo detail on the sides.
All things considered, the Louis Vuitton x Supreme accessories drop is shaping up to be the biggest fashion collab of 2017. It’s definitely the most high-profile Supreme drop in recent years, and that’s saying a lot. However, fans will be forced to wait a while longer. The Louis Vuitton x Supreme collection officially drops on July 17 at select Louis Vuitton stores worldwide. This is a definite changeup from how the Supreme brand usually introduces new products. We have a feeling that there are definitely a few more surprises in-store. Keep checking back and bookmark this page for the latest LV x Supreme drop news and updates.
