Calvin Klein Officially Appoints Raf Simons as the Brand’s First Chief Creative Officer.

Raf Simons’ abrupt exit from his post as Women’s Creative Director at Christian Dior incited months of speculation. Amongst the chatter were rumors that Simons would land at leading global fashion brand Calvin Klein. Today, the canards circulating Manhattan were confirmed as official announcements surfaced on Calvin Klein’s social media pages introducing Raf Simons as the new Chief Creative Officer of the company.

Raf Simons career thus far has been visionary. His minimalist approach and relatable ascendance with the cool kids of fashion has garnered him a cult like following. CEO, Steven Shiffman, and Calvin Klein were elated with the probability of appointing the fashion sage, and after Francisco Costa and Italo Zuchelli’s exit in April the possibility became a very real reality. Raf Simons creative direction will span over the entire assortment of the Calvin Klein empire. Pieter Mulier will follow his longtime mentor and work at the famous American Fashion House as Simons’ creative director. The designer’s decision to head to the States was one of careful consideration, and will be the designers largest sales platform to date. With more brands and broader markets at Calvin Klein, Raf Simons is definitely turning the page on high fashion.

The company shared the following statement, ”As Calvin Klein looks to grow the brand to $10 billion in global retail sales, this new leadership is intended to further strengthen the brand’s premium positioning worldwide and pave the way for future long-term global growth.” Could Raf Simons possibly catapult the famous American Brand back to days when Calvin Klein himself led the charge?
