Versace Resort 2017: Donatella Versace Takes us On an Inspired Road Trip for the Brand’s Latest Resort Collection.
The Versace Resort collection for 2017 is energized and electrified. As apparent in almost all collections, Donatella Versace’s dynamic personality shone through as the collection spoke volumes of strength and positivity. There was much anticipation in awaiting this collection as newness was evolving in the house of Versace. Jonathan Akeroyd was named the new CEO of Versace, and his arrival an awakened spirit and ascending momentum is to be expected.
The collection itself is inspired by the American road trip. Cities can be spotted in the influence of designs throughout the collection. New York is found in the pops of color and neon piping throughout the collection, alluding to that of the luminous Times Square. The concrete skyline can be seen in the sleek lines and silhouettes of the pieces. Pioneer florals are represented in a smaller scale representing that of vintage or thrift. Macramé and Aztec boho prints direct the attention towards California, specifically Los Angeles. The garments appear more artistic and flirty.
The collection repetitiously features bold colored paneling and lines clashing against a sleek black backdrop. A polo dress was introduced with feminine pleats. Along with this, a series of tennis inspired designs were noticed, whether it was another tennis inspired dress, or simply tennis influenced pleats and pocket detailing. A sweater skirt set with contrasting bold and pigmented stripes was finalized with the classic Versace geometric border print. A black, minimalistic leather jacket hung unconstructed with a color blocking of strong, electric blue. Following was a more fitted leather jacket zipped tight with a four-color color-blocking element. Denim was used to create a pant set consisting of a pair of straight cut denim with a slight bell flare and a matching denim jacket with black leather panels. Copper piping and paneling traced camel toned garments. A soft pink leather jacket and matching mini skirt sported perforated detailing. A sporty sweater also styled perforated sleeves and tennis sweater banding paired back to sleek pants and platform heels. A cropped camel leather vest with soft pink borders traced the sleek silhouette.
The collection was fluid in its delivery and consistent in its presentation. It carried the strength of Donatella Versace and possessed the essence of the house of Versace.
