Riccardo Tisci Leaves Givenchy. Here’s What’s Next.
It’s official, Riccardo Tisci leaves Givenchy. Now the question is, why? As far as we can see, Tisci’s time with the French luxury fashion brand has only been marked with successes. The influential designer is largely credited with the rise of the new era of Givenchy. A period that includes an A-list group of celebrity supporters including the likes of Beyonce and Kim Kardashian, who both claim the designer as a very close personal friend. Tisci’s departure will be swift. It turns out that his Givenchy Fall 2017 menswear and Spring 2017 Haute couture collection are his last. There will be no Riccardo Tisci’s Givenchy at Paris Fashion Week Fall 2017.
Riccardo Tisci’s rise to prominence has been extraordinary. With a modern, dark aesthetic and an appreciation for both the serious and sensational, Tisci has built a cult following of celebrities, supermodels, and fashion enthusiasts. Just look at the designer’s personal Instagram account which boasts an impressive 1.8 million followers. Understandably so. The designer’s past media worthy moments include dressing stars like Beyonce for the red carpet and designing BFF Kim Kardashian’s wedding dress for her Kanye West nuptials.

However, it seems that Tisci is departing Givenchy on good terms. “I have very special affection for the House of Givenchy and its beautiful teams. I want to thank the LVMH group and Monsieur Bernard Arnault for giving me the platform to express my creativity over the years. I now wish to focus on my personal interests and passions,” Tisci shared with WWD. So the question remains, why?
Tisci’s departure comes amidst a whirlwind of similar high profile fashion exits. Brands including Saint Laurent, Dior, Lanvin, Valentino, Chloé have all bid their creative directors farewell in recent Season’s. Perhaps it’s just the fashion way. With so many talented designers, the competition is always steep. Especially considering that there’s now a new element at play. Social influence. As we’ve seen from other houses like Olivier Rousteing and Balmain, it’s all about who you know. That definitely puts Tisci in full control for whatever awaits.

Presently, there’s no official news of where the designer will be heading next. However, there is chatter that Tisci will land safely in the arms of Donatella, as Versace prepares for its looming IPO. Whatever the case, we’re sure that Tisci’s fans- celebrities and fashionistas alike, will soon follow.
