Raf Simons Fall Winter 2017-2018, New York Fashion Week Men’s.
Belgian designer, Raf Simons says Hello to his new home of New York City with his latest menswear collection. Simons’ has a lot to be proud of these days. As the new creative director of Calvin Klein, he’s now one of the most influential voices in the fashion world. Much of Simon’s success, however, is due to his eponymous Raf Simons brand. A cool, modern fashion forward RTW brand adored by editors, fashion enthusiasts, and celebrities alike. One of Simon’s biggest supporters is rapper ASAP Rocky, whose been name dropping Simon’s in song lyrics ever since his release.
For his Raf Simons Mens Fall Winter 2017-2018 collection, the designer offers an eclectic feeling New York motif. Inspired by his new home, Simons’ references the culture of the city both quite literally and conceptually. The obvious statements were seen by way of elements like the assortment of I <3 New York knit sweaters. The rest was all about the vibe. Much like prior Season’s the designer emphasized silhouette and the lack thereof. From broad shoulders on trench coats with cinched waists to baggy knit sweaters and blazers, there was a certain ease on display. Nothing was overly styled or particularly flashy, which was a slight departure from the designer’s usually abstract collections. Perhaps he’s saving that for his Calvin Klein debut in two weeks. Overall, the collection felt right at home in New York and I have a feeling that I Love New York merch just got a whole lot trendier.
