PUMA X TRAPSTAR: Global Sports Brand PUMA Announces an Exciting Collaboration with London-based streetwear brand, Trapstar.
The Puma brand has undergone a high-profile resurgence over the past fewÂ months. Amidst the brand’s lucrative collaboration with Rihanna, in which the pop star was named Global Creative Director of the brand, the entire operation seems to have shifted towards a much more youthful, sexy and modern brand aesthetic. In the brand’s latest foray into the gritty, street style focus of their past, the sportswear company presents: PUMA X TRAPSTAR, a collaboration with urban, London based apparel brand, Trapstar.
Coincidentally, Rihanna already has strong ties to the Trapstar brand. An early fan of the brand’s graphic apparel, the now Global Creative Director of Puma collaborated with co-founders Mikey, Lee and Will Trapstar exclusively for wardrobe for her past “Monster Tour”.
The PUMA x Trapstar collaboration features one of PUMA’s most iconic silhouettes, the DISC. The PUMA DISC x Trapstar features an all-over leather upper on a cleaner, simplified DISC shoe. Finished in black, even the DISC cage has been given a soft nubuck leather treatment. Exemplifying Trapstar’s design ethos the shoe includes a red colour pop on its DISC strap and a graphic Trapstar logo on the heel. The white speckled midsole sits alongside the translucent red outsole giving the shoe the ultimate balance between streetwear and fashion.
“The PUMA x Trapstar Goalkeeper Shirt is a true partnership between the two brands,” said the brand in a statement. Blending the edgy street sensible aesthetic of Trapstar with the sports focused philosophy of Puma, the goalkeeper shirt ties the shirt to the design of the PUMA DISC x Trapstar sneaker. Constructed from a super soft engineered jacquard, the shirt features Dry-Cell technology and a reflective print showing what happens when sportswear and streetwear come together.
The Puma x Trapstar collection drops through Trapstar stores exclusively on December 5th followed by a global release through premium lifestyle retailers on December 12th.
