Pharrell Williams is Officially a Chanel Handbag Model
Pharrell Williams is no doubt a serious fashion influencer. His accomplishments include an iconic Adidas partnership, his very own fashion line, Billionaire Boys Club, and even a CFDA fashion award. However, William’s latest collab manages to take his fashion influence to new heights. Introducing Pharrell Williams the Chanel handbag model. Yes, seriously. The first male Chanel handbag model, to be exact.
Pharrell who’s publicly sported Chanel necklaces for years, caught the eye of Karl Lagerfeld some time ago. As of late, the two seem to be really cozying up. The entertainer’s first Chanel appearance came in 2014 as he starred in the Paris-Salzburg collection film. Even more recently, Pharrell walked the runway for Chanel’s Métiers d’Art show at the Ritz Paris.
The multi-talented entertainer shared his passion about the brand with WWD. “I was like a nerdy little black kid on a skateboard. So looking at high-end fashion was something that I really didn’t understand in the very beginning,” he confessed. “And then I realized, slowly but surely, man, this is amazing. And although there’s mostly the perception that it’s for women, I just started to see, OK, as a man I can wear some of this. So I would wear sunglasses here, or a jacket there.”
Joining Pharrell in the campaign are top models Kristen Stewart, Cara Delevingne and Caroline de Maigret. The advert imagery lensed by Karl Lagerfeld, himself, offers a relaxed series of fashion portraits. An image featuring Pharrell Williams has already surfaced and it’s not what you think. Shot in an honest feeling, no-frills style, you’re likely to forget that it’s a Chanel handbag ad. The full advert is set to release worldwide on April 3. Perhaps there’ll be more shocking images of Pharrell and crew then.
