Oscar De La Renta Resort 2017 Collection : Oscar de la Renta’s latest heir dug through the archives to curate his resort 2017 collection.
From what we saw at Oscar De La Renta Resort 2017, designer Peter Copping is achieving tremendous efforts in preserving the name of Oscar de la Renta presenting a collection that some would expect from Mr. de la Renta, himself. Coping’s latest collection is already one of the most talked about the season and has been applauded for its eclectic aesthetic, and confident layering of prints – a sophisticated patchwork mix of floral prints and jacquards.
Staying true to the Oscar De La Renta brand, Coping offered a well edited collection of timeless style pieces. There were tweed skirt suits and mismatch floral prints on skirts and cardigans. Some of the gowns and dresses were heavy with floral prints at the bottoms, drawing the eye down while at other times, the prints made their way up to the bodice. The silhouettes were ultra feminine, paying particular attention to a-line and drop waist skirts and dresses.
Utilizing the unusually long fashion lifespan of resort collections, Copping made efforts to incorporate everything a woman would need for years to come. From exquisite outerwear including heavy tweeds and eye catching prints such as emerald green jacquard to the light weight, flirtatious lace dresses and beaded gowns. Overall, Copping presented a captivating, retail ready collection, while upholding the signature style aestheics of the brand allowing us to look at each piece and know, “of course, that’s Oscar de la Renta.”
