Louis Vuitton Debuts a Modern Forward Thinking Collection at Paris Fashion Week Spring 2016
“We are all living with this new dimension. We are all managing how to integrate these new notions of digital, virtual, and cyber with our real life”,Nicolas Ghesquiere shared backstage after debuting his Spring/Summer 2016 collection. Louis Vuitton has been synonymous in the accessories business since 1854, but since Ghesquiere’s arrival in 2014, the brand has been rebranding the image of the LV brand as a complete Lifestyle brand, including RTW.
This Season the designer took us neither completely into the future nor the past, instead we found ourselves somewhere in between. Ghesquiere is said to be known for his love of anime and Sci-Fi movies and TV shows. This season think Tron: Legacy and anime series Evangelion and Sailor Moon. The collection itself consisted of metal embroidered moto jackets, space shuttle print on trousers, and leathers, crop tops, and shorts that look as though they’d been cut with a laser. The color pallet mainly consisted of black and metallic grays with touches of pinks, reds and powder blues here and there maintaining the cool femininity of the collection. Despite the futuristic touches, the collection still had a bohemian touch to it, with the help of the crop tops and shorts. Ghesquiere has introduced us into the future of bohemia.
