Lanvin Resort 2017: Bouchra Jarrar Presents his Latest Design Collection for Lanvin.
Bouchra Jarrar, successor of beloved Alber Elbaz, who’s departure from Lanvin left many devestated, has debuted a small collection, consisting of five looks. The presentation took place early Wednesday morning at the Soho Grand Hotel in New York City. With only two months to work on this collection, Jarrar miraculously curated a beautiful ready-to-wear collection complete with handbags, shoes, and jewelry.
Jarrar perhaps has given us a glimpse at what’s in store for Lanvin under her creative direction, and we must applaud that the fete was far more than we expected! Aside from her signature design aesthetic defined by clean cut lines, minimal silhouettes, and muted color pallets, Jarrar brought something new to the table: the use of floral prints and vibrant pops of colors (see looks two and five).
During the presentation, the designer seemed to be handling the pressure rather well as she spoke about her inspiration for this latest collection. “Evening Wear is important to Lanvin. I wanted to bring my own vision to cocktail and evening with the sensibility of the 1930s, when evening wear was very simple and pure.” From what we noted, the designer did just that. Of the five looks, two of them were floor length evening gowns evoking a sense of timeless beauty and elegance, a fundamental aspect of the signature Lanvin sensibility.
Jarrar intentionally sets herself apart from numerous women who design women’s ready-to-wear for themselves. ” It’s not for me, it’s for all women. I understand the power of clothes, it is why I give a lot of attention to proportions. I want women to be beautiful, it is my job.” We say that Jarrar did a stellar job at executing her first collection for Lanvin, in only two months time. We cannot wait to see what’s next for Lanvin, come Spring/Summer 2017 and many Seasons to come.
