Vogue Focuses on Diversity for its March 2017 Issue Starring Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid and Ashley Graham.
The Vogue March 2017 issue is political. Starring an A-list group of top models including Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Ashley Graham, Adwoa Aboah, Liu Wen, Vittoria Ceretti and Imaan Hammam, the glossy delivers a bold Spring fashion fair. Intentionally casting a diverse group of women of different races and body types, this latest issue hits home.
Lensed by fashion duo Inez & Vinoodh, the diverse cast pose together on a dreamy beach all wearing Prada turtleneck sweaters and shorts, for the cover. The image offers some serious throwback nineties supermodel vibes-Naomi, Linda, and Christy. Inside the issue, the models pose in a series of cinematic scenes. Styled in SS/17 collections from names like Versace, Chloe, Lanvin, and Dior, the women let their uniqueness shine. Ranging from streetwear, jerseys, suiting and evening gowns, style for this crew is all about mixing it up.
With this latest cover story, Vogue continues to take a liberal stance, even in the wake of recent politics. From supporting President Barack Obama back in 2008 to endorsing Hillary Clinton, it remains left. Vogue directly notes that its March 2017 issues addresses ‘a climate of immigration bans and building walls’. Most importantly it shines a light on diversity meaning ‘there isn’t just one type of American girl—nor has there ever been.’ Gigi Hadid who’s been very public in her opposition (Gigi Hadid leads #NowallNoBan) shared her views on the issue. “It’s funny to me when people say that I’m this ‘girl next door’ because although I know I can come off that way, from another angle, I’m pretty exotic. I mean, as different as Imaan and I look, we probably share DNA. If I’m ‘all-American,’ what does that even mean?”
Very well said Gigi Hadid. Basically, WTF? Ditto. Keep scrolling below to see all the images from Vogue March 2017.
