British Fashion Designer Katie Eary Presents an Ethereal Aquatic Inspired Spring Summer 2017 Collection.
Eccentricity needs no introduction, especially in the case of British designer Katie Eary. The Royal College of Arts graduate has come a long way since she established her label in 2010, adding remarkable accolades to her name along the journey. Her menswear looks were shot exclusively on Kate Moss by Mario Testino for Vogue right after her graduation and she’s worked closely with Kanye West when he started his clothing label. Eary’s aesthetic evokes a strange love-hate opinion, there are no grey areas. Her unabashed style a la Versace is all about bold prints, metallics and animalistic textures. There’s always a strong back-story and inspiration to her flamboyant presentations. She especially feeds off British culture and the music industry- be it the Sex Pistols or Elvis Presley.
This season, Eary was consistent with her creations in acidic colour shades replete of billowing blouses. The 70’s theme showcased the garb of the working class to be clad on the weekend. Quirky star print shirts were donned on top of shiny trousers accompanied by sliders- an interesting combination. There was a tropical surfer aesthetic portrayed though sexy barely there dresses and lounge cover -ups in a dynamic fish print. The trashy-chic aesthetic is well though out. Beachwear was curated into refined silhouettes such as a blazer or a fur trimmed overcoat. Eary’s ideology isn’t always easy to comprehend, her line is a whimsical mash-up of elements that aren’t always in harmony with each other but then again, thats the beauty of it.
