Junya Wantanabe has a reputation of beingÂ obsessed with mathematics and geometric shapes. His very way of working with fabric, always crimping and cutting, has a method of its own, dissecting his very ownÂ math formula on the female body.
The designers Fall/Winter 2016 collection consists of an array of three-dimensional laser cut geometric shapes made from industrial neoprene. The forms on the body spoke to the audience linking together modern techniques of fashion design. Utilizing laser cutting and computer science and the traditional Japanese art of Origami, the skilled designer’s collections always resonate with the audience, this season perhaps the importance of math and art especially when it comes to designing for the future.
