Fendi Resort 2017: Karl Lagerfeld Presents the Fendi 2017 Resort Collection.
When it comes to the iconic fashion house of Fendi, one can always expect a few things: innovation, experimentation and a signature unexpected twist. Ironically, we can say the same of the brand’s current designer, Karl Lagerfeld. For the design house’s latest showing, Fendi Resort 2017, Lagerfeld puts his decades of industry knowledge to task, revealing that true style is timeless.
Fendi’s enlivened Resort 2017 collection was a bold mix of Eastern and Western design influences. Framed by a mash up of prints including traditional Japanese floral prints and a red and white quilt print that has early American influence, Lagerfeld offered a decisive cosmopolitan tone to the collection. The quilting was carried through from the dresses in red and white and even in the tulle on a trench coat creating a beautiful a-line shape.
The collection was rather feminine, abundant in plunging silhouettes: dresses were belted at the waist, skirts were cinched at the waist and we even saw belting on trench coats that sat high on the waist, as seen in the darling yellow trench coat. There were also off the shoulder billowing blouses, super wide culottes, and graceful peplums adding a sense of lightness to the collection. However, it was the finale piece that really stole the show, a netted, shaved mink duster jacket decorated with fur resembling flowers. A fur jacket this stunning can only be the work of Fendi.
With 84 year old Karl Lagerfeld still leading the international fashion world, there’s no better place to see the transition of fashion than at a Lagerfeld show. This mantra was certainly the case at Fendi Resort 2017 as the iconic designer did much more than design a collection. Filled with editorial worthy style moments and historical design references, the brand’s latest collection is a testament to the creative tact of the unwavering Mr. Lagerfeld.
