Lanvin Fall Winter 2016: The Fashion House Presents First Collection After Departure of Alber Elbaz.
Emotions hung heavy in the air during Lanvin’s Fall/Winter collection following last year’s departure of former Creative Director, Alber Elbaz. This season’s collection showed evidence that Elbaz was no longer in charge, instead a team of various designers.
The overall mood of the collection was 80’s luxury, silhouettes consisted of oversized blazers with plunging, jeweled lapels, asymmetrical peplums, lace blouses, and satin dresses available in sea-foam green, peach, mauve, and metallic silver tones. The clothing did not reflect the craftsmanship in the silhouettes and attention to detail as the ensembles did when Elbaz was still head of design. In fact, the only remaining aesthetic were the heavily accessorized looks early on in the collection. The bedazzled chokers and dangly earrings were made a staple of Lanvin by Elbaz. The collection seemed aimless and almost thrown together otherwise without the proper guidance of a creative director.
In order for Lanvin to survive in the ever-changing, fast-paced industry of fashion, they’ll need a Creative Director to dictate a stronger, more relevant collection than the one presented this season.
