Dsquared2 Debuts a Rebellious, Street Culture Inspired Mens Spring Summer 2017 Collection at Milan Fashion Week.
Dsquared2 appealed to the contemporary rocker as designers Dean and Dan Caten walked their SS17 collection down the runway. With the spirit and DNA of Dsquared2 prominently present, the collection seemed evidently influenced by British urban street culture. With kilts, bleached washes and treatments, and sequined embellishments, the collection shone with glitz and rebellion.
The mood was set with a strong taste for rebellion, a nonconforming vision for individuality and the musical tones of rock. The edgy models’ looks included accents of metallic hardware necklaces, leather bracelets, rings and piercings. Navy toned dress pants complimented most looks and in some cases were made more casual, for example, when paired back to a slimming, tailored denim jacket complete with scattered patchwork. An argyle, diamond perforated jacket appeared black matte in an attractive manner. Slim fedoras topped the crowns of models.
A dark hued plaid pant paired back to polo shirting in a more subtle fashion, whilst a striped sweater was complimented with pink sparkled platforms for a captivating, dramatic statement. Boldly colored, red suspenders repeatedly accented runway looks, often paired over collared shirting, or a basic sleeveless. A sequin-embellished tank was seemingly contemporary. Oversized utility jackets were dressed in patches and total look completed with black and white lace-up platforms.
A combined black leather and green cargo bomber featured red piping adding an elevated aesthetic. This season Dsquared2 played with textural mixing and fabric combinations. A commonly deemed formal suit jacket was made casual with leather sleeves and a denim collar. Also to walk the runway were metallic pants, floral bombers, and an abstractly camouflage printed oversized jacket. A black and white checkered print paneled a bomber, and was repeated twice again on a utility jacket and an oversized, long coat. A graphic tee was featured with the words, “Toronto’s Caten Twins.”
In making a social statement, both designers closed the show in their final walk with rainbow ribbons effortlessly dressing their necks.
