DKNY, the most profitable line of Donna Karan international, has announced that its newest Creative Directors will be Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne of burgeoning street style fashion house, Public School. The CFDA , award-winning duo will be overseeing all of the brands collections in this new appointment.
For Chow and Osborne the opportunity seems to be a dream realized as they note, “We both grew up in New York and DKNY has always been part of the landscape of this city in our formative years as designers and New Yorkers. It is one of the brands that helped change the game for us and for American fashion.”
The street savvy aesthetics of Chow and Osborne should certainly bode well for DKNY as the brand continues to toughen up its street cred and customer base. The appointment should also provide a lot of visibility for the Public School brand as the duo will undoubtedly be scrutinized every step of the way. Chow and Osborne don’t seem to be at all worried, however. The duo issued the following statement, “We are extremely proud and excited to be joining the company and to contribute to the next chapter of DKNY, one of the most iconic brands created by Donna Karan, a true inspiration.”
