Dior Homme Presents a Funfair Inspired Spring Summer 2017 Collection in Paris.
Dior Homme SS17 collection show was held at the Tennis Club de Paris, with an elaborate, maze-like set that was to be inspired by a fun fair. The show invitation nodded to the said influence by inviting attendees to the “Dior Fun Fair.” The runway featured a twisting sculpture bordered in amusement park lights of every color. The front row was graced by Dior’s newest faces, A$AP Rocky and Larry Clark, as well as Dior Homme fragrance face, Robert Pattinson. All were dressed in Dior’s featured collection. A$AP Rocky wore a black suit with red stitching captivatingly sewn throughout the garments. Flower pin badges decorated the suit.
For the collection, Dior’s creative director, Kris Van Assche quoted that the collection was of a journey inspired by order and disorder. The latest designs represented a “synthesis of generations,” said the designer. This statement proved interesting in its appeal to all current generations rather than just one specified, focused generation. The Dior Homme SS17 collection referenced to both punk and goth with its inclusion of oversized pockets, excessive straps, cut off trousers and black nail polish. The collection was modern, innovative and rebellious in its nature.
The collection flirted with the concept of extremity. While the designs possessed Dior’s notably luxurious tailoring, it also possessed the complete opposite. Runway pieces walked the show super tailored, or contrastingly, swimmingly oversized. Parachute pants and baggy, oversized trousers and tailored suiting with cropped hemlines stopping mid calf, made for refreshing, reworked styling. Harnesses and belt chains decorated total looks, as laced combat boots dressed the models. Harnesses were styled in abstract, quirky fashions and held no boundaries as they were even worn over tailored suit jackets. Prints were intriguing in Dior’s SS17 collection with the inclusion of large black and white plaid, grey paisley, and marble prints on men’s suiting. One set look featured a play on denim, as it was experimented in a total denim printed look. Another set look matched in total black, with red string and stitching sewn throughout.
