The Dior Cruise 2017 Collection Explores the Wild Side of Resort Wear
The Dior Cruise 2017 line was showcased within the halls of Blenheim Palace, a country estate in the UK. The palace is known for its expansive 2,000 acre grounds, as well as the birth place of Winston Churchill, a combo that couldn’t better reflect Dior’s luxurious resort wear collection. The line exhibited a theme of travel and exploration, transcribed through the subtleties in accessories and print with classic silhouettes of French couture and well tailored English dress. Like mixing a French kiss with a British accent, the collection was both exhilarating and delightfully luxe.
While most cruise or resort wear collections focus on mumus for the beach and all things reflective of aquatic life, Dior Cruise 2017 collection showcases what we really want out of our vacations: adventure. Creative directors Lucie Meier and Serge Ruffieux decided upon an edgier theme, The Hunt. Jacquard prints on dresses feature horses racing across greenery the way we imagine sportsman racing around the grounds of Blenheim Palace. In well-detailed planning of accessories we see flashes of the safari in leather and wooden bracelets, and enameled chokers with leather ties.
But what’s adventure without luxury? The 2017 Cruise collection may be on the brink of discovery, but haunting details of Dior’s original New Look cease to fade away. Structured peplums, full hips on dresses and tops depict that though Dior may not make full crinoline dresses and dropped hemlines as it used to, the Dior collection will always celebrate the beautiful femininity of the female body. These reminiscent silhouettes are beautifully mixed with tweed pants, cotton skirts, well fit over coats and beautifully tailored blazers in a true British fashion.
Dior’s collection yet again changed the pace of fashion. Forget your espadrilles and chinos; you’ll be seeking the thrill of exploration and adventure after watching the Dior Cruise 2017 collection here. You can also see a few of our favorite looks from the Dior Cruise 2017 collection below.
