Craig Green FW15: Designer Craig Green Present his FW15 Collection at London Fashion Week, Mens.
When asked about the concept for his latest FW16 showing backstage , Craig Green, one of Britain’s latest conceptually brilliant designers on the scene, had a strong rebuttal: We never start with a concept”, he insists, “it’s just things that feel right…”. It seemed that what did feel right interpreted into clothing latched so tight onto the body, similar to straight jackets, that you could not even clearly make out the models’ face, or the pieces that posed a juxtaposition to that concept, appearing to almost be hanging on to its last threads as if its about to be blown away in the wind.
Similar concepts were found in the down filled pouches the models carried: either they were tight within their grasp or they dragged in along behind them. Perhaps what Green was telling us through his collection is that somethings are meant to be held on to with a tight grasp and the rest are to be left behind; blown away in the wind.
Green hinted that the down stuffed pouches tight within the clutches were “punching bags” and the ones dragged along were to hint toward the character Linus and his blanket from the timeless comic strip The Peanuts.
Although Green insists there is no real concept and seems to be poking fun, maybe this is his way of showing the fashion world that he will not be overtaken by trends or what the media wants, and will rather stay true to himself and his technique that set him apart from the rest in the first place.
