Italian Beauty Vittoria Ceretti is on the Cover of Vogue Italia

Top Model Vittoria Ceretti Turns Head on the July Cover of Vogue Italia.

Vogue Italia’s July 2016 issue has been the topic of discussion since it hit stands first in Milan, and a few days later for the rest of the world to see. A pivotal moment for Vogue Italia this year, as the lack of Steven Meisel’s presence was vividly evident. Last June, Vogue Italia’s June installment featured four different photographers to feature four different covers. The photographers featured were Mario Sorrenti, Craig McDean, Steven Klein and Mert Alas & Marcus Piggot in what was published to stands as ‘The China Issue.’ Immediate circulation questioned and challenged why longtime Vogue Italia collaborator Steven Meisel did not photograph the issue’s cover. It was speculated that due to alleged creative differences the collaboration did not occur.

It was criticized that without the legendary photographer’s presence, Vogue Italia experienced a year of what some considered an identity crisis. Each month it seemed as though Vogue Italia’s covers were not produced with the same aesthetic that once captivated all. The absence of Meisel was a vocal reminder each month that a new issue hit stands.

In a completely captivating and intoxicating manner, Meisel produced a simple, but inevitably powerful cover of Italian model, Vittoria Ceretti against a black background, with words prying, “So You Want Glamour?” It was the return the world was craving and the resurgence Vogue Italia needed. Undeniably dynamic and iconic, Meisel reintroduced his collaborative efforts with Vogue Italia in a way that read, “This is what you have been waiting for.”

Critics immediately took to the Internet to express their gratitude and awe for Meisel’s forceful return. Some related his work in this issue of Vogue Italia to his work in the mid 00’s, whilst others proclaimed that is was Vogue’s finest cover of the year. Italian beauty, Vittoria Ceretti graced the cover, posing for Meisel as Italian actress Virna Lisi. The editorial spread featured Ceretti interpreting iconic portraits of famous women of the past.
