Supreme X Antihero SS16: Another Super Limited Capsule Collection

Supreme X Antihero: Supreme Teams Up with Skateboard Brand, Antihero for Another Super Limited Capsule Collection.

In anticipation for summer, Supreme teamed up with skateboard company, ANTIHERO to produce a small, collaborative collection. The companies first teased their collection in an editorial for SENSE, shot by Rafael Rios. Here, included Supreme’s SS16 collection, alongside their collaboration pieces with ANTIHERO. A short, gritty skate film was also released in timed arrival for the collaboration. As with all Supreme drops, the hype anticipating this release was heavy.

This time, the brands united once again to produce a lineup of merchandise in respect to the summer season delivery. The collection featured coach jackets, long sleeved and short sleeved tees, trucker hats, skate decks and four new original graphic Supreme tees.

The bombers, or coach jackets featured Antihero graphics on the back while maintaining subtle Supreme aesthetics. The strongly hued red bomber featured a repetitive, ANTIHERO eagle design, collared neckline and drawstring waist. The same style was featured also in all-over camo and black.

Hoodies with half logos graced the collection, as each brand’s name was fit to merge with the countering brand’s name. “Supr Hero” was boldly printed on the backs of merchandise including hoodies, tees, and hats. The “Supr Hero” hoodie was featured in three varied colorways.

Crewneck tees were designed with baseball stripes on the sleeves. The ANTIHERO eagle was printed sprawled across the front, while a heavy jersey aesthetic was emanated from the back with Supreme 00 printed. The silhouette appeared available in white with red stripes, green with white stripes and black with white stripes.

The long sleeved tees were heavily logo driven with Supreme written down both sleeves and ANTIHERO repeated across the front. Exclusive Supreme tees were released as well, as a small capsule of four, including one that read “MENACE II SOCIETY” against a dusty pink background. The others revealed a heavy graffiti-like influence in their design.

The collection was made available in store in New York, Los Angeles, London and Japan, as well as online. However, in the launch of its release, the collection sold out ridiculously fast, with some merchandise selling out in less than two minutes. It was reported that the bomber jackets were among the first to sell out in the United States. As with every Supreme launch, others online at nearly a 200% markup are currently reselling the collection pieces. As commonly seen with collaborations, especially those involving cult streetwear brand Supreme, sellouts reach record time. But, the amount of resell product sold in the aftermath of these releases proposes the question: what percentage of streetfillers lining up outside the doors, anticipating and waiting with their purchase power are actual wearers of the brand and what percentage are sellers?
