Actress Margot Robbie Brings out her Inner Tarzan meets “Jane”, on the June 2016 cover of VOGUE.
25 year old Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie lands her first major magazine cover, and by major we mean VOGUE. Outfitted in a super sexy leopard print one piece swimsuit, Robbie takes notes from her signature complex on screen characters and serves up a double dose of girl next door beauty (ok, maybe girl next door in that whole xoxo, gossip girl way).
You may remember her as the impossibly beautiful gold digger in Martin Martin Scorsese’s blockbuster hit, The Wolf of Wall Street, or in her equally layered role as Jess, alongside Will Smith in the twisted drama of big screen film, Focus; Robbie has catapulted herself into the mainstream of cinema by taking on some of the most unexpected and difficult roles to master.
Captured by photographers to the supermodels and stars Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, Robbie shines in a light filled, intimate series of images alongside her on screen Tarzan, Alexander Skarsgard. Outfitted in a collection of body conscious swimwear and loungewear by brands including Eres, Michael Kors Collection, Dolce & Gabbana, and Mikoh, Robbie and Skarsgard turn up the heat as they offer a preview of their effortless chemistry.
Robbie also sits down and opens up with the magazine on everything from her early acting career to her upcoming debut as Jane in the remake of Tarzan. Check out a few moments from the exclusive interview below.
On Taking the Role in Wolf of Wall Street:
“When I first read it, I thought, I have nothing in common with her. I hate her. It was a really tricky one to get my head around. But her motivation was ‘You guys are doing it–why shouldn’t I? It’s this man’s world, and I’m going to get mine.’ And I understand that.”
On Taking the Role of Jane in Upcoming Film , Tarzan:
“There’s no way I was going to play the damsel in distress,” she says. But then she read the script. “It just felt very epic and big and magical in some way. I haven’t done a movie like that. The Harry Potter films could have been really cheesy, but David Yates made them into something dark and cool and real–plus it was shooting in London, and I, on a whim, had just signed a lease on a house there.” For Yates, “an unpretentiousness, a real pragmatism, was evident from the moment I met her. There’s something very true about her, and those qualities were very important for Jane–someone who’s open to experience the beauty of the world.”
On the Confusion with her Name:
“I always said, ‘Mom–there was a really cool way of spelling my name, and you picked the boring way that gets everyone confused. They forget the T or call me Mar-got,’ ” she shares. “Now everyone’s finally spelling my name right–that’s how I knew I’d made it.”
