Balmain Fall Winter 2016: Creative Director Olivier Rousteing Presents a Kardashian Inspired Fall Winter 2016 Collection.
An Ode to Kim Kardashian West and curves! Olivier Rousting’s Balmain Fall/Winter 2016 collection paid special tribute to one of pop-culture’s most notable stars, Kim Kardashian West, as Balmain’s army of super models, including sister Kendall Jenner, did their best to channel their inner Kim.
The show opened with Kendall sporting blonde hair, reminiscent of when Kim went blonde last year. Coincidence? The collection consisted of monochromatic icy chrome tones in pinks, grays, and beige, the same color pallet Kim is commonly seen wearing, and even bubble padded miniskirts and metallic waist-shaper belts to mimic Kim’s gracious curves. Rousting shared a few words backstage with insight from his latest collection:” Curves are really important because the women of the world today are really curvy, and they’re an inspiration, like hip-hop stars and reality stars.”
Aside from embracing curves, Rousting also celebrated the decorated body: There was lace on legs, tasseled bosoms, ruffles, pearls embedded into sheer mesh and body hugging velvets, and rococo embroideries. Like Kim, Rousting’ Balmain also in known to provoke a love-hate reactions, thus making Kim his perfect muse.
