Cushnie et Ochs FW16:The Romantic Minimalist
Anyone familiar with Cushnie et Ochs would know their signature sexy cocktail dresses with cut-outs, flattering silhouettes, and trendy color palettes. For Fall Winter 2016,however, Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs slanted toward a more minimal approach. Utilizing a sleek color story consisting mostly of black and whites with hints of metallic silver and gold, the duo present a collection evoking a sense of intrigue and undeniable sex appeal.
The collection was clean and the cut-outs were very precise. The textiles varied from hard to soft, sometimes in shear fabric revealing glimpses or bare skin and other times more obscure revealing a hint of flesh in a the neck or cut into the bodice. Necklines plunged toward the navel and some hemlines featured ruffles for added volume. A contemporary mix of layered fabrics told a story of Minimal Romanticism on a Winter’s evening: Lace, Fur, Silks and Satin, and even vinyl. Despite the chilly weather, everyone was reminded that arctic temperatures do not stop the Cushnie et Ochs woman from bearing a little skin.
