Kendall Jenner Lands the Cover of Vogue Paris with 3 Original Supermodels

As Vogue Paris approaches almost a decade in print it stops to reflect with 4 special Vogue Covers starring 4 iconic models celebrating its 95th anniversary. Joining the prestigious group are Kate Moss, Christy Turlington, Gisele Bunchden, and seemingly wild card Kendall Jenner.

It seems like just yesterday that we all stood slightly confused and a little skeptical about Kendall Jenner’s debut into the fashion world. After all from what we knew her entire life was based on a reality television show, and for most this appeared to be just another stunt. Over the past 4 seasons, most of us have been proven wrong as Jenner continues to prove that she’s a model because she wants to be a model. Picking up top campaigns and designer BFF’s such as Karl Lagerfeld and Riccardo Tisci along the way ,Kendall Jenner has solidified herself as one of the top models of the moment. With an army of social  media followers and all the aura that goes along with being a part of the Kardashian /Jenner/West clan these days Kendall finds herself in a truly unique position. Could she really be the next real Super Model of our era? There were certainly no shortage of faces that Vogue Paris’s Emmannuelle Alt could place on the cover. We have the legendary Supermodels like Naomi, Linda, and Cindy; and of course the new era of proclaimed it girls including Joan Smalls, Jourdan Dunn and Georgia May Jagger. However, Alt’s decision is very telling. With the increase in social media as a tool for engagement in publishing, model’s like Kendall Jenner are a lot more desirable for a brand. With millions of instagram followers and A-list connections, Jenner’s cover not only gets the traditional media attention for fashion sites, but also from famous friends and relatives like big sis Kim or Khloe Kardashian. This is not to say that Jenner’s cover is at all unearned, but certainly raises the bar on what it means for the future of the super model- it’s all about being connected; and in a way that’s how it’s always been.
