Naeem Khan SS16 Collection New York Fashion Week

The sunny floral gardens in the South of France, the crisp waters of Capri, a color pallet reminiscent of The French Impressionists, and iconic muses of the 50s and 60s,like Jackie O and Grace Kelly, were no less the inspiration behind Naheem Khan’s Spring-Summer 2016 collection. At the head of the runway stood a white wall delicately covered with red bougainvillea, a familiar sight in the Mediterranean, Opera music chimed in, and down came the models on the runway. Each garment was hand beaded and ornamented, creating an overall romantic feel to the collection.

Khan, himself prides himself in dressing the finest women such as Beyonce, Penelope Cruz, and First Lady Michele Obama, in the most elegant attire, that bestow their femininity and power. Which is no surprise as to why the pieces were exceptionally breath taking, like the raffia lace ball gown with scarlet floral embroidery and bolero to match in look number 9, or the lemon taffeta ball gown with organza flower petal embroidery that closed the show.

The color pallet was bold, yet romantic, abundant in bright yellows, vibrate reds, azure blues, soft purples and pinks, with hints of metallics. Khan’s gowns without a doubt will look lovely on any red carpet event this coming spring, especially the Cannes Film Festival.
