Lie Sangbong SS16 Collection New York Fashion Week

It was as if we were placed in a magical land where the dandelion stems, designed by artist Dong-Shik Roe, stood tall above our heads and where models served as magical nymphs in airy, asymmetrical clothing as they descended down the runway. Lie Sangbong’s Spring-Summer 2016 collection entitled “Bojagi”, literally meaning the study of modern lightness and geometric patchwork construction, showcased garments that were multi-dimensional with transparent cutouts on silks and linens. Shirts, dresses, and trenches were draped in an origami-like fashion, asymmetrical in form with contrasting stitching.

The collections color palette consisted mainly of a pure white, to tie together the theme of being light weight, as well as soft blues, metallic purples, and a touch of black. “This season is all about playing with fabrics, add Mr. Lie, ” it’s almost as though through a unique mix of traditional and innovative materials, we’re creating something new.” The quilting of the fabric hints towards Mr. Lie connecting memories and moments together and each model brought the metaphor to life, as each price spoke of a different story. “Bojagi” will will be made Available in March 2016 at retailers worldwide as well as the flagship in New York City’s Meatpacking district.
