1. CINDY CRAWFORD Born in Illinois, Crawford was discovered at the age of 16 by a newspaper photographer and went on to become a top supermodel of the 80s and 90s gracing the cover of tops magazines including Vogue, Harpers Bazzar, Elle, and Marie Claire. 2. CHRISTY TURLINGTON Born in California, Turlington was discovered by a local photographer while horseback riding in Miami, Fl. Over the course of her career Turlington appeared on over 500 magazine covers and was recently selected as one of fourteen models that defined the supermodel era by V Magazine. 3. BEVERYLY JOHSNON Born in New York, Johnson was discovered while studying at Northeastern University in 1971. Johnson went on to become the first African American model to appear on the cover of VOGUE (1974) and the first African American woman to appear on the French edition of Elle. 4. NAOMI SIMS Born in Mississippi, Naomi Sims in essence discovered herself. Frustrated by racial bigotry in the fashion industry, Sims went directly to photographer Gosta Peterson who decided to shoot her for the cover of the titles August 1967 fashion supplement. Sims continued to build her career and went on to become a major influence of the ‘black is beautiful’ movement in American Fashion history. 5. CAROLYN MURPHY

Traveling the world with her military family , Murphy was discovered at the age of 15 by a model scout. She then went on to Paris and then New York where she lived with Eileen Ford, founder of Ford Models. Murphy has graced countless magazine covers and television screens in her lengthy career.

6. TYRA BANKS Born in Los Angeles California, Tyra Banks knew from a very young age that she wanted to become a model. After being rejected by countless agencies, the soon to be supermodel was signed by Elite Models where she went on to book a record breaking 25 runway shows for her first Paris season. Banks multi-faceted career include countless magazine covers, a long running title as a Victoria’s Secret Angel, founding ANTM, her own talk show and production company, and countless other entrepreneurial and philanthropic efforts around the world. 7. BEVERLY PEELE Born in California, Beverly Peele made her debut with the cover of Mademoiselle, a distinguished women’s magazine of the time. Breaking boundaries as one of the top models of color Peele went on to front campaigns for the likes of Versace, Chanel, and Ralph Lauren. 8. STEPHANIE SEYMOUR Born in California , Seymour began her modeling career working for local newspapers and department stores around San Diego. With All-American bomb shell looks Seymour appeared on countless Sports Ilustrated covers and even helped to launch the powerhouse brand known today as Victoria’s Secret. 9. TYSON BECKFORD Born in New York, Beckford’s first stint at modeling was with Source Magazine. Soon after, he was scouted and became the leading man of Polo Ralph Lauren. With that endorsement behind him, Beckford continued on to front numerous ad campaigns and magazine coves solidifying him as one of the most successful male models of all time. 10. GIA Born in Philadephia, Gia Carangi is one of the most well known models of all time. While her story may have ending in tragedy, her career was truly brilliant in every way. Landing covers for publications including Vogue Us, Vogue Paris, Vogue Italia, and Cosmopolitan alongside major ad campaign for brands like Christian Dior, Versace, and Yves Saint Laurent, Gia was undoubtedly one of the most popular models of all time. 11.
