Billy Reid Presents SS16 Collection at the Inaugural New York Fashion Week:Mens
Billy Reid’s Spring/Summer collection gave us more of everything that we’ve grown to love about the brand.  A signature color scheme of neutral earth tones coupled with the designer’s usual strong editing eye created vibes of timeless haberdashery and nu mode street style. However,  what really made the collection stand out was Reid’s foray into prints.
The designer referred to the jacquard prints as a “Sea Garden” consisting of mosaics of fossils, seashells, leaves, and everglades. The busyness of the jacquards were toned down by the neutral color pallet, creating an extremely wearable collection for Reid’s New York City and Chicago client base.
Reid also incorporated a sportswear vibe into the collection, with what Reid refers to as ‘baller shorts” (knee length shorts with a wide leg) and visors resembling baseball caps and sneakers. This marks a new direction for Reid as his efforts in not only experimenting with motifs that make it contemporary, but in his utilization of details in the fabrics.
