Rising Supermodels Bella Hadid and Taylor Hill Team Up for the Cover of Vogue Paris, September 2016.
Vogue Paris fronts social stars Bella Hadid and Taylor Hill as their September issue cover girls. Marking the third September cover this season for Hadid, this issue also marks her fourth international Vogue cover this year. Hadid has graced the covers of Vogue Turkey, China and Japan. This September, Hadid fronts the cover issues of Glamour Magazine and Vogue Japan.
Models Hadid and Hill occupy the cover space dressed in identical black Dior jumpsuits with ruffled detailing and defined shoulders reminiscent of the 1980’s. Vogue Paris’s September cover is symbolic of its return back to black. Vogue Paris stylist, Emmanuelle Alt writes in her September 2016 editorial, “Vogue Paris and black go way back. The decades of the magazine’s existence have been punctuated with striking images that bring this most imperial of colors alive, in all its facets, emotions, paradoxes and audacity.”
Reading centrally across the September issue cover is the title, ‘Generation Instagirls,’ alluding to the growing presence of it girls and models on social media, namely Instagram. The cover theme received a slightly slanted review as it follows Anna Wintour’s theme for the American Vogue issue featuring nine Instagirls exactly two years later. That being said, it is impossible to ignore the current shift occurring on the covers of fashion magazines, as the models with a stronger and greater social following are receiving favor in terms of general cover presences. Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott photographed the cover and editorial spread. Inside the issue, Hadid bares it all and poses completely nude for Mert & Marcus in a series of black and white photographs. Hadid took to her personal Instagram to share the editorial spread, praising her gratitude for stylist Emmanuelle Alt and photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Alongside the featured photographs Hadid took the opportunity to socially promote #freeingthenipple and encouraging self love for one’s own body.
