Balmain SS16: Balmain Releases Spring Summer 2016 Ad Campaign.
Presenting the Balmain SS16 Ad campaign, Rousteing reminds us of the origin of the fashion socialite as he casts not one, but three of the world’s most renown supermodels in a head turning and undeniably diabolical holy trinity. Say hello to Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, and Claudia Schiffer. “When I was a schoolboy in Bordeaux, it was their editorials that first made clear to me the amazing transformative power of fashion,” he shared in a statement. “Still today, many years on, their iconic images are often found amongst the jumble on mood boards in my (and almost every other designers’) atelier. To say that working with them was a dream come true is no exaggeration.”
Olivier Rousteing has transformed the Balmain brand into one of the most talked about fashion houses of the decade. With a quick witted use of super sleek, provocative ad campaigns and brand endorsements starring the likes of the Kendall and Kardashian clan and a host of top models darlings and starlets, Rousteing has created one of the most powerful social media brands of our time. Frequently referenced by Rousteing as the #balmainarmy, his influential roster of A-list power players have set a new precedent in the realm of celebrity endorsements. Rousteing himself has become a new sort of celebrity, extending his reach into a sort of pseudo brand ambassador, literally putting a face and personality to a decades old iconic fashion house.
Photographed by Steven Klein alongside Creative Director Pascale Dangin, the brand presents a super luxe, minimal campaign packed with unmistakable star power. With Campbell, Schiffer, and Crawford at the helm of the campaign the focus was on the timeless beauty of each model juxtaposed alongside the modern, sensationalism of the Balmain SS16 collection. The beauty looks for each model followed suit with clean, minimal makeup and just out of the shower, wind swept tresses, the campaign offers a certain ease that we’re absolutely obsesses with.
