Agi & Sam FW16: Agi & Sam Defy The Functionality Of Pockets With Their FW16 Collection.
It may be safe to say that Agi Mdumulla and Sam Cotton’s label Agi & Sam have successfully carved out a unique niche for themselves on and off the runway. Utilizing body-swallowing silhouettes and eccentric collections, this is a brand that certainly makes us think outside of the box.
The pocket is one of fashions most functional additions to any garment. But is that very attachment still functional if it sits on the wearer’s upper back, on the spine where he could not reach it or would one find it peculiar if it sat upon the middle of the wearer’s chest? And what good are the sleeves if they’re extending several inches from the wearer’s wrists leaving their hands completely useless? Sam & Agi gave us all the more reasons to ponder this question as their form meets pseudo-functionality collection hit the runway.
Along with visually eye teasing menswear, Agi & Sam introduced womenswear as an extension to their label. The engulfing silhouettes of the womenswear mirrored that of the menswear collection effortlessly. The transition between genders was almost unrecognizable.
Accompanying the garments were a slew of accessories just as intriguing. We saw backpacks that wrapped around the body and other oddities that cause our eyes to dance and imagination to wonder.
