Katy Perry as a Child isn’t What You Think, Vogue

Katy Perry as a Child isn’t what You Think, Learn the truth in her latest Vogue Cover Story

Katy Perry introduced herself to the world with the outspoken lyrics, “I kissed a girl and I liked it.” However, life for Katy Perry as a Child isn’t nearly as colorful. Debuting on her second Vogue cover, Katy Perry finally tells all. For the Vogue story, the entertainer sets off high-fashion fireworks. Dressed in Comme des Garcons, Katy Perry is almost unrecognizable. Her style choice also sets early goals for the 2017 Meta Gala in May. This year’s theme honors the work of Rei Kawakubo, who in 1969 founded the Japanese label Comme des Garcons.

Vogue assures that these Katy Perry pictures show “the most outrageous clothes you’ve seen on [Katy Perry] yet.” We agree. Although, Perry is certainly not new to fashion. The 32-year-old pop star is a regular face on fashion magazines. Not to mention, her lucrative Covergirl contract and stints at Gucci and Moschino. However, there’s something more real about this latest story. Lensed by photography duo, Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, Katy Perry invites us into a childlike fashion dream.

“There is some generational racism,” remembers Katy Perry as a child.

Inside the issue, fans get a rare glimpse into life for Katy Perry as a child. It isn’t at all what you think she shares with Editor Hamish Bowles. Perry grew up conservative, with both of her parents being Christian pastors. We even learn that as a child, Katy Perry isn’t allowed to interact with LGBTQ people. Remarkably, she didn’t accept those rules. “There is some generational racism,” says Katy reflecting on life as a child.”But I came out of the womb asking questions, curious from day one, and I am really grateful for that: My curiosity has led me here. Anything I don’t understand, I will just ask questions about.”

Katy Perry also talks about politics, Trump and teenage girls. “I was really disheartened for a while; it just brought up a lot of trauma for me,” she says of Clinton’s Presidential loss to Trump. Though, she still hasn’t plenty of hope for the future. “I am so grateful that young people know the names of senators. I think teenage girls are going to save the world! That age group just seems to be holding people accountable. They have a really strong voice—and a loud one.”
